How To Captain
Captains are appointed at the beginning of each season based on the following criteria in order of importance:
Cultural fit (embodies the values of the club, is inclusive and encouraging)
Organisational skills (to coordinate kit, match days, captain’s critique, score submission and DD Treat vote submission)
Equitable involvement (does not over or under emphasise own contribution to team)
Tactical awareness (to be delegated to vice-captains if necessary)
Captains responsibilities revolve primary around coordinate matchdays. Outside of this, they also complete the following:
DD Treat Medal
vote collection after each match and submission on Google Drive.
Match review delegation.
Scorecard submission via MyCricket login (late submission sees competition points deducted)
Match cancellation SMS communication (in exceptional circumstances).
DD Treat Medal Ceremony presentation (end of season function) hosting.
The below example checklists have been prepared to assist captains in fulfilling their matchday duties, however they carry the following assumptions:
A vice-captain is appointed at the beginning of the season.
The vice-captain completes all captain's duties in captain's absence.
The vice-captain is responsible for the allocation of boundary-marking, stumping-placing, umpiring and scoring roles plus pre-match warmup/fielding/stretches.
A player is appointed ahead of each match to deliver the "bring it home" address and lead the team song in the event of victory.
